Event Information
This session will be a talk delivered by Nanci Unjung Lee, a teacher at Woodward Academy. She’ll be taking attendees through a STEAM project that she uses to introduce her students to the topics of climate change and sustainability, and showing samples of student work that highlight the incredible things they are able to accomplish through 3D design. There will be opportunities throughout the session for attendees to engage with Nanci by asking questions and sharing their own stories. This will be managed both through a combination of raised hands in person, as well as through online polls and survey questions to encourage participation. The outline of the session will resemble the following:
Introduction to the presenter (5 min)
Review of the project outline for integrating SketchUp into Climate Change and Sustainability Curriculum (15 min)
Projects in practice - a look through the lesson as delivered in the classroom, including samples of student work (20 min)
Q&A with the presenter and the Product Manager for SketchUp for Schools (15 min)
The presenters will have a prize wheel, and provide opportunities for attendees to engage throughout the session, winning bonus swag to take home to their classrooms!
Attendees will leave this session with an understanding of how to implement 3D modeling in their classrooms in a way that supports their existing learning goals. They’ll get to hear directly from an educator and students who have found significant success with digital design, and be inspired by the possibilities of a new technology.
