Event Information
Detailed Outline:
1. (30 Minutes) Frame the Canvas: Quick interactive opener: participants respond to a striking image (What do you see? What do you think? What do you wonder?).
Connect: why images matter for thinking, memory, curiosity, and connection. Anchor in research: dual coding, multimedia learning, picture superiority
2. (45 Minutes) Sketch Meaning: Explore how visualizing and visual literacy strengthen comprehension in ELA and across subjects. Activities: image-to-text protocols, visual notetaking, “caption this” tasks. Discuss: visuals as entry points into rich conversations and complex ideas.
3. (15 Minutes) Shared Gallery: Collaborative activity: participants design a quick “visual pathway” to teach or prompt discussion in their own context. Share and celebrate
Participants will leave with a ready-to-use curated repository of protocols to use and put into action in their instructional spaces.
