Session description

This session empowers educators and policymakers to move beyond the “tech versus tradition” divide. Learn how Utah is crafting balanced Edtech legislation and instructional strategies that protect foundational skills while fostering innovation, digital citizenship, and future readiness. Participants will leave with replicable frameworks and actionable design strategies.

Present key research: early math predictors, handwriting & cognition, digital literacy forecasts
(15–25 min)Policy framework introduction: Introduce a Balanced Edtech Policy Framework (with dimensions such as protected instructional time, device governance, digital citizenship, equity, accountability)
(25–35 min)Small group work: policy audit Participants audit (or imagine) a state/district EdTech policy using the framework; share observations in table groups
