Associate Professor Matthew Harrison (he/him) is an experienced teacher, researcher and digital creator who is an advocate for utilising technology to support social capacity building, belonging and inclusion in education. He has taught in Australia, South Korea and the United Kingdom at primary, secondary and tertiary levels. Matthew is currently a member of the University of Melbourne Faculty of Education Learning Intervention team, a project lead at the University of Melbourne Neurodiversity Project and co-founder of Next Level Collaboration, the first neurodivergent-led social enterprise to spin out of the University of Melbourne.

Neurodiversity and Digital Inclusion: Creating the Conditions for Inclusive Education through UDL


This research presentation will share findings from an Australian study exploring how digital technologies can create the conditions for inclusive education through the UDL framework. Drawing on classroom case studies and literature, participants will learn how digital tools supported learning, and design principles that promote equitable participation for neurodivergent learners.

This research-based session explores the lived experiences of neurodivergent children and facilitators participating in a cooperative video game–based social capacity program. Findings from reflexive thematic analysis highlight how shared play can create belonging, agency, and authentic social connection, and how neurodiversity-affirming design can transform intervention practice.
