Session description

Turbulent political, economic, and social times can shift the focus of instructional leadership and cause instructional improvement initiatives to be grounded before they ever take off. In this session, instructional leaders will learn ways to guide schools toward improved outcomes while navigating turbulent times.

Outline

Introductions (5 minutes)
Preparing for and Recognizing the Impact of Turbulence on Your School (10 minutes) - Attendees will discuss the signs that turbulence is impacting their school.
Establishing Turbulence Safety Procedures for Your School (15 minutes) - The presenter will provide an overview of the key safety features that are necessary for schools to feel safe for educators and leaders to focus on instruction.
Wellness & Self-Care for Leaders in Turbulent Times (15 minutes) - Attendees will self-assess their personal wellness and self-care and set goals for improvement.
Strategies for Maintaining Focus for Self and Others (15 minutes) - The presenter will discuss evidence-based strategies for maintaining group focus and lead attendees through setting goals for their leadership.

Outcomes

After this session, participants will be able to identify practical strategies to maintain a focus on instructional improvement during turbulent times. Attendees will select steps they should take to maintain their wellness as leaders and support the continued wellness and growth of their colleagues and staff.
