Session description

Running a school requires teamwork. It's time to partner with a neglected but valuable person who has been overlooked. Fathers! During this session, we share "hit the ground running" engagement strategies from our new ASCD book that help create safer schools, happier staff and students, and increased academic success.

Outline

1. Introduction of Speakers: 1 minute.

2. Why this topic is important: Statistics on fatherlessness vs father involvement; share videos of students POV of father engagement: 10 minutes

3. Discuss tried and true engagement strategies for schools just beginning and those just starting with justification as to how each strategy helps schools and students. 15 minutes.

4. End with Q&A period: 4 minutes.

Outcomes

As a result of this session, participants will be able to start or strengthen a father engagement program at their school. They will be given access to the tools we used to start and maintain successful programs.
