Event Information
Outline (60 Minutes)
Welcome to the Kitchen! (0–5 min)
Introduce Top Chef: AI and Design Thinking in Action.
Overview of the design thinking process and session goals.
Participants form “kitchen brigades” (small teams).
Quick interactive poll on AI familiarity.
Quickfire Challenge: Empathize (5–10 min)
Focus: Identify student needs and classroom challenges.
Tools: Snorkl and SchoolAI.
Activity: Teams use AI to simulate learner perspectives, analyze learning barriers, or summarize needs.
Deliverable: “Empathy Snapshot” of a specific student or classroom context.
Main Course: Ideate & Prototype (10–25 min)
Focus: Brainstorm and build creative instructional solutions.
Potential Tools: MagicSchool and Curipod.
Activity:
Use MagicSchool to generate lesson ideas, resources, or assessments.
Use Curipod to design an interactive student-facing activity.
Deliverable: Early version of their AI-enhanced “lesson dish.”
Taste Test: Refine (25–40 min)
Focus: Improve and iterate based on AI and peer feedback.
Potential Tools: EnlightenAI and Custom GPTs.
Activity:
Exchange prototypes with another team for “taste testing.”
Use EnlightenAI for tone, clarity, and accessibility review.
Use Custom GPTs to receive specific feedback (e.g., differentiation, scaffolding).
Deliverable: Refined and finalized “AI dish.”
Judges’ Table: Showcase (40–55 min)
Focus: Present and reflect.
Potential Tools: Optional use of Curipod or Slides for visuals.
Activity:
Teams present final “AI dish” (lesson prototype).
Peer “judges” offer feedback using digital scorecards or AI reflection prompts.
Deliverable: Shared understanding of creative applications of AI in instruction.
Winner’s Circle & Action Plan (55–60 min)
Focus: Reflect and plan next steps.
Potential Tools: SchoolAI Lesson Planner.
Activity:
Celebrate creativity and innovation.
Complete AI “recipe card” and personal action plan.
Access a shared AI Recipe Book of all lesson prototypes and tool links.
Participants will leave as AI Top Chefs, having explored a range of AI tools—Custom GPTs, SchoolAI, MagicSchool, Snorkl, EnlightenAI, and Curipod—to design and refine a classroom-ready lesson prototype. Guided by design thinking (empathize, ideate, prototype, refine), each participant will complete an AI “recipe card” featuring their lesson idea, sample prompts, and an actionable classroom integration plan.
