This session will include:
Presenter will Review of NYS Education Culturally Responsive Education Framework and Portrait of a Graduate as the curricular foundation for Elevating Student Voices program. (7 min.)
Attendees will Turn and Talk to for introductions and processing initial information (5 min)
Presenter will Explain the Elevating Student Voices 5 session structure, facilitator trainings, session content and discussion prompts, youth summit format, student and adult speakers, exhibit area for school based activities (30 min.)
The presenter will provide an action planning template and share school based projects via adult advisor narratives, photos and sample youth summit exhibits (7 min)
Attendees will exam Elevating Student Voices feedback from advisors, students via narratives collected over 4 years and video testimonials (5 min)
Attendees will turn to talk with partner for Intentional Closure with partner, one new learning moment, one question, one action step
Attendees will be able to:
*create a multi district Elevating Student Voices program focusing on how to engage student voice and support student leaders in creating and sustaining an inclusive environment.
*explore strategies to connect students with community leaders to engage in conversations around the importance of belonging in the workplace, community, etc.
*access examples of student led initiatives to shift curriculum, policy and school culture.
