Session description

The “Challenge Quiz” is a collaborative assessment complementing traditional tests. Using Magic School AI, I create several realistic scenarios based on various biological and environmental problems. Students tackle these through research and teamwork. The session shares implementation guidelines, engagement data, AI prompts, and strategies to design authentic, future-ready assessments.

Outline

This poster session showcases the Challenge Quiz, a collaborative summative assessment model powered by generative AI. For two years, I've used Magic School AI to craft realistic, complex scenarios in Biology, HL Biology and Environmental Sciences. Students don't just recall facts; they research, collaborate, and propose evidence-based solutions to problems like disease outbreaks or ecological disasters.

In about 20 minutes (of interacton with the audience):

-This session will provide a clear framework for implementation, display analyzed data on student engagement and skill development, and share a curated bank of effective AI prompts.

-They may walk away with practical strategies to use AI not just as a student tool, but as a powerful engine for creating authentic, future-ready assessments that measure what truly matters. And ideal, may discover how to transform your students from passive learners into proactive problem-solvers.
