Jen Schwanke, Ed.D., is a longtime educator who has served as a teacher and leader at all levels. She’s the author of four ASCD books: You’re the Principal! Now What? Strategies and Solutions for New School Leaders; The Principal ReBoot: 8 Ways to Revitalize Your School Leadership; The Teacher's Principal: How School Leaders Can Support and Motivate Their Teachers; and The Principal’s Guide to Conflict Management. Her fifth book will be released in August. Schwanke is the co-host of the popular “Principal Matters” podcast, which recently topped over 1.5 million downloads.

She has been active in the development and presentation of training, professional development, and keynote addresses to various organizations throughout the U.S. and Canada, and has presented at many national education conferences. She specializes in topics such as school climate and culture, rethinking data usage, school/community engagement, instructional leadership, the teacher evaluation process, how to have difficult conversations, and managing conflict in our schools. An instructor in educational administration at The Ohio State University and Miami University of Ohio, Schwanke currently serves as a deputy superintendent in Ohio.
