Session description

Literacy is an international conversation impacting education. Many states focus on compliance-driven reforms, but a comprehensive approach involving all stakeholders is needed. This session reviews the roles of the classroom, home, and community in literacy development, emphasizing parent engagement and collaboration to ensure evidence-based reading instruction for all students.

CONTENT & ENGAGEMENT:
The primary objective is to share knowledge, present research findings, and deliver a comprehensive overview of the topic of literacy. The session will maintain a structured format but allow for audience participation through turn and talk, shout-outs, and videos. The journey will include: Literacy in a Nutshell; The Struggling Reader; Parents as Partners; Involvement vs. Engagement; Communication; Systemic Reform Ecosystem
