Session description

This session guides educators in integrating the UN Global Goals into project-based learning, using practical EdTech tools to foster collaboration and creativity. Participants will explore specific tools, engage in a hands-on PBL activity, and leave with resources to design meaningful, globally-focused projects in their classrooms.

Outline

1. Introduction/Overview of UN Global Goals (10 minutes). A brief introduction to the UN Global goals and their significance in education. Explain the connection between the Global Goald and project-based learning as a way to foster global citizenship and real-world problem-solving. Use a menti to gauge their familiarity with the Goals and gather which topics they are most interested in.
2. EdTech Tools Showcase (15 minutes)
Intro/demonstrate a selection of EdTech tools that can support PBL and collaboration around the UN Global Goals. Tools will include collaborative platforms, interactive simulations, VR and AR tools, multimedia creation tools, and AI chatbots and virtual assistants. Participants can explore on their devices as we present.
3. Introducing Challenges and Choice (5 minutes)
Introduce the PBL challenges (clean water solutions, reducing plastic waste, school garden project). They should choose the challenge that speaks to them or best aligns with their curriculum and teaching objectives.
4. Hands-on PBL challenge (25 minutes)
Participants will work in small groups on the PBL challenge they selected, using the EdTech tools demonstrated earlier to design a project while we facilitate and support. Group collaboration and hands-on project creation.
5. Wrap-Up and Reflection (5 minutes)
Brief wrap-up of the session with a focus on how PBL aligned with the Global Goals can be implemented in classrooms. Padlet to share ideas and takeaways.
