Session description

This workshop focuses on enhancing teacher relationships through effective feedback and communication. Participants will learn practical strategies for providing constructive feedback, building trust, and fostering open communication with teachers. The workshop will also explore the use of school-created digital tools to streamline communication and improve feedback processes.

Outline

Introduction (10 minutes):
Icebreaker: A quick activity to establish rapport and encourage participation.
Defining Effective Feedback: Discuss the characteristics of effective feedback, including specificity, timeliness, and positivity.
The Importance of Communication: Emphasize the role of clear and open communication in building strong relationships with teachers.

Module 1: Providing Constructive Feedback to Teachers (20 minutes):
Introduce methods of providing feedback:
Digital Tools for Feedback: Share a digital resource we created for our use at Jackson to provide personalized and timely feedback to teachers. Allow participants an opportunity to create their own.

Module 2: Effective Communication with Teachers (20 minutes): peer-to-peer
Active Listening: Discuss the importance of active listening in teacher evaluations and other communication channels.
Speaking to be understood and not just heard
Addressing Teacher Concerns: Provide strategies for addressing teacher concerns in a respectful and professional manner.

Conclusion (15 minutes):
Reflection and Discussion: Encourage participants to reflect on the key takeaways from the workshop and discuss any questions or concerns.
Action Planning: Guide participants in creating individual action plans to implement the strategies learned in the workshop.

By incorporating digital tools and allowing time for creation of a personal toolbox, our workshop will provide school administrators with practical strategies for enhancing their communication and feedback skills in a modern and engaging way.
