Event Information
(5 minutes) Framing the technology overload challenge. Educators are being bombarded with more than 8,000 technology tools on the market with no clear understanding of what will actually move student outcomes. The Value Add of Technology on Teaching can help school teams unpack their goals, uncover opportunities for more integrated instruction and technology initiatives, and focus on their goals.
(10 minutes) Concrete experience dilemma. A brief case study will take participants into the story of Harlem District 5 as they seek to leverage new education technology alongside meeting the requirements of NYC Reads. It will outline how leaders and coaches clarified their goals, took stock of their current conditions and practices, and set priorities for new coaching.
(20 minutes) Modeling of a tech-integrated coaching approach. Coaches from the NYC initiative will use video evidence, protocols, and coaching rubrics to showcase high-leverage coaching practices at the intersection of effective instruction and technology use.
(20) Guided reflection and planning. In small groups, participants will be prompted to take stock of their current approach to tech-enabled instruction. Using the VATT reflection tool, they will identify areas for greater exploration and strategy refinement.
The remaining time will be used to field questions and share resources.
