Emotionally intelligent leadership is essential for success. Learn practical strategies to build trust and inspire motivation among staff. Discover how EQ-driven approaches with teacher teams and community-based partnerships improve attendance, enhance student well-being, and drive academic achievement, creating a thriving school culture focused on long-term success.

Welcome and Introductions

Understanding Emotional Intelligence (EQ) in Leadership (15 minutes):

Content 1: Define EQ and its relevance in school leadership. Explore the key components of EQ (self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, social skills, and motivation) and how they impact staff and student outcomes.
Engagement Activity: A brief reflective activity where participants identify their own EQ strengths and areas for growth using a self-assessment tool provided (six principles of effective EQ leadership, what they think versus what the research says) Fostering Trust, Collaboration, and Inclusivity (10 minutes):

Content: Introduce key leadership behaviors that promote trust, inclusivity, and collaboration within school teams. Discuss real-world examples of EQ-driven leadership in action.
Engagement Activity: Small-group discussion to share experiences of effective and ineffective leadership behaviors in their schools, followed by a condensed and quick guided brainstorming session to identify practical improvements including the key benefits to partnering with Community-Based Organizations and Full-Service Models that they didn't know existed (10 minutes):

Content: Explore how collaboration with external organizations supports holistic student success and addresses barriers to learning. Highlight examples of successful partnerships and their measurable outcomes.
Engagement Activity: Peer-to-peer/Consultancy Protocol Activity and exchange on identifying potential community partners and brainstorming collaboration opportunities tailored to their contexts. Creating Monitoring and Assessment Structures (15 minutes):

Content: Teach participants how to design tools and frameworks that measure how well school and district initiatives align with core values and foster EQ-driven leadership practices.
Engagement Activity based on Case-Study Presented: Hands-on activity where participants draft a simple monitoring plan or value-alignment checklist for their school or district. Coaching and Leading Teams Through an EQ Lens (10 minutes):

Content: Provide strategies for coaching staff to embrace emotionally intelligent practices. Discuss how EQ can enhance team dynamics, professional development, and student engagement.
Engagement Activity: Role-playing activity where participants practice EQ-focused coaching conversations in pairs or small groups.
Wrap-Up and Action Planning (10 minutes):

Content: Summarize key takeaways and provide a framework for participants to create their own EQ-driven action plans.
Engagement: Participants draft personal or school-wide goals based on the session content and share them with peers for feedback.
