Session description

Empowering Student Creativity through Artificial Intelligence and Design Thinking: Unlocking New Possibilities in Storytelling. By integrating AI tools and the principles of design thinking, students can craft imaginative and personalized children’s storybooks, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and innovation in their learning journey while enhancing digital literacy.

Outline

In the session "Empowering Student Creativity with Artificial Intelligence and Design Thinking," participants will explore how AI can transform student storytelling in a 30-minute presentation. The session will begin with a brief overview (5 minutes) of AI and design thinking, engaging the audience with an impactful story or video demonstration. Next, participants will learn how these tools align with ISTE Standards for Educators and Students, as well as Transformative Learning Principles, through a quick device-based poll (5 minutes) to gauge their familiarity. A live demonstration (10 minutes) will showcase an AI tool for creating storybooks, inviting audience members to share story prompts in real time. Following this, participants will engage in a hands-on activity (5 minutes) where they will start designing a lesson plan using an AI-driven storytelling approach, collaborating in a shared document. The session will conclude with a Q&A and reflection period (5 minutes), encouraging participants to consider how they will implement these strategies in their classrooms. Throughout the session, various engagement tactics, including peer-to-peer interaction and device-based activities, will foster an interactive and practical learning environment.
