Session description

The biggest issue with being a coach of any kind is that there is often one of you and so many that need you. In this session, you'll learn about a coaching program that focuses on creating self-directed people who can learn to move forward without you.

Outline

Tell me about yourself (5) Using Padlet we will have teachers explain who they are what want their role is. The will also answer the questions what is the job of a a technology coach.

Introduction of coaching (5) We talk about what coaching is as it relates to technology.

The traditional coaching plan (5) We go over the traditional coaching model of plan, teach, reflect and see discuss how it's used by the people in the room.

The 4 support roles (5) We will go over the 4 support roles that can define can interaction with another teacher. We will using an activity called just like me to identify the roles each of the attendees play in their schools.

Sample Coaching Conversation (10) A quick demonstration of a coaching conversation using tools specific to cognitive coaching .

Review of key points and coaches toolbox (5) We will identify the key points form the model and show what tools a coach as available to them other than just telling the coachee what to do.

Discussion of formal and informal coaching (5) We will demonstrate the idea of formal and informal coaching.

Practice Paraphrase (10) attendees will partner up and give a short statement about what drives them to do their job. They will take turns paraphrasing each other. Paraphrasing is one skill that very powerful and can really make a conversation powerful.

Reflection (5) We will ask the audience to tell us how they felt being paraphrased.

Wrap up (5) We will finish the session with last minute notes and information.
