Session description

Discover how AI transformed my middle school English classroom: acting as an ideation tool, providing student feedback, serving as a research assistant, and in an AI-assisted, self-paced grammar unit during which students had access to an AI tutor to foster growth and individualized learning.

Outline

I would like to begin with an introduction and background information on myself (5 minutes).

Then, I would detail the ways that I have used AI in my classroom--both teacher-facing as well as student-facing--to augment my students' learning. I would also like to emphasize the need to teach students AI usage as a hard skill (30 minutes).

Following that, I would demonstrate uses of various AI resources that I have frequently used myself, and invite the audience to explore these resources along with me (20 minutes).

I would then finish with a wrap-up and invite any questions from the audience.
