Session description

This interactive professional learning session will equip educational technology coaches with the knowledge and tools to harness the power of AI to optimize their work, improve their impact on teachers and students, and stay ahead in the evolving landscape of education.

Outline

We will share information on how we can leverage AI in our coaching model, the Jim Knight Impact Cycle.

Participants will have opportunities for turn and talk, practice, and processing. They will have time to try out how they might use in the classroom or in a coaching cycle. Participants will share out their action plan at the end on how they can use artificial intelligence in their work.

Here is a general outline with tentative timing for a one-hour interactive session.

1. Branding Intro/Context of our district (5 minutes)
2. AI Guidelines - share district guidelines (5 minutes)
3. Community Builder - assess prior knowledge (3 to 5 minutes)
4. Content with embedded processing opportunities (20 minutes)
- Using AI in "identify" goal setting. Prompt: Help me design a SMART goal for increasing collaboration in my 4th grade classroom.
- Using AI in "learn" phase. Prompt: Can you help me design specific activities for this goal for my students? Specifically for comparing and contrasting in reading and energy in science.
- Using AI in "improve" stage. Prompt: This is some data from Schoology for my 5th grade students in Math. The top row lists the TEKS covered. Can you disaggregate this data and let me know my best next steps? Prompt: Going back to my original prompt with the data image, each row indicates a student's data. Can you number the rows and tell me which rows need the most help?
5. Practice Time on device (10 - 15 minutes)
6. Goal Setting and Reflection Activity(5 minutes)
What are you excited to try out?
How can this make you a better coach?
How can this fit within your coaching style and workflow?
