Session description

This session will guide students in using digital tools to create and share projects that promote empathy and social action. Attendees will learn how to foster student collaboration, develop multimedia content, and address community needs, all while enhancing digital literacy and building a more inclusive environment.

Outline

Introduction to Empathy and Digital Solidarity (10 minutes)
Present an overview of the importance of empathy in today’s digital world.
Discuss how students can use technology to promote social responsibility and community involvement.
Demonstration of Digital Tools (15 minutes)
Introduce digital platforms like Canva, Padlet, and Flipgrid.
Show how these tools can be used to create and share multimedia content for social action projects.
Interactive Activity: Creating a Solidarity Project (25 minutes)
Attendees will collaborate in small groups to brainstorm a social action project that addresses a community need.
Using Canva or Padlet, participants will create a sample project that promotes empathy and solidarity.
Peer-to-Peer Sharing and Feedback (15 minutes)
Groups will share their projects with the rest of the audience.
Peer-to-peer interaction will be facilitated to provide feedback and discuss the potential impact of each project.
Reflection and Next Steps (10 minutes)
Lead a group discussion on how attendees can implement these tools and strategies in their own classrooms.
Discuss practical ways to foster empathy and social responsibility using digital platforms.
