Event Information
Introduction: The Need for Differentiation and Challenges (5 min)
- Briefly discuss the challenges of meeting diverse learners' needs, emphasizing how differentiation can be time-consuming and highlighting the specific needs of neurodiverse learners.
- Introduce AI as a tool to streamline differentiation, giving educators more time for meaningful student interactions, and allowing for supports that one individual teacher could never provide on their own.
How AI Supports Differentiation for Neurodiverse Learners (12 min)
- Introduce 8 specific supports that can be helpful for neurodiverse learners and corresponding uses of AI that can meet those needs (personalized prompts, detailed next steps, reading level adjustments, feedback systems, etc.) This includes live demos via screencasts showing free AI tools in action.
AI Chatbots as Tutors: Aiding Student Independence (7 min)
- Explain how AI chatbots can serve as virtual tutors, guiding students through problem-solving or complex activities.
- Demonstrate scaffolding and how AI chatbots can provide tailored hints or supports based on individual student needs.
Practical Implementation Strategies and Next Steps (6 min)
- Share a few classroom success stories of AI making differentiation easier and more effective.
-Ask participants to commit to trying one AI tool or strategy in their classroom this month and share it with a partner.
-Provide a link to tools and uses mentioned in the session for participants to reference after the session.
